A Welcome Bit of Extra Attention

I’m preparing for a west coast trip later this month and have booked a Kimpton hotel for part of this excursion. How delighted I was to get an e-mail from the hotel’s concierge asking if there was anything special that I would need or if there was a way they could be of service prior to my arrival.  This is an example of a little extra effort that takes my guest experience to the next level and just one of the reason’s we’ve been Kimpton enthusiasts for some time.

For the hotel, this small step helps forge a relationship between me and the hotel. I’ll look to them when I need assistance. That may mean more revenue for them; it certainly leads to greater satisfaction for me.

Airline fee update: The Wall Street Journal reports that TripAdvisor.com and FlyingFees.com are adding new tools that will make it easier to see all of the fees added to your ticket price before you make the decision to buy. This is welcome news.
