Go, Dog, Go!

Go, Dog, Go!

Thank you for returning to Executive Nomad. Wondering why don't we feature reviews of the sites we recommend? Find Out.. If you haven't already, you may want to subscribe to our RSS feed

Pet friendly hotels are all the rage. I heard from one fellow owner at my local dog park that he and his wife had just spent the night in NY with their labradoodle (I believe at the Clarion). I almost brought Executive Nomad’s Chief Canine Officer (in photo) to the Sonoma Mission Inn (the hotel was great about it — $25/night gets you a dog bed, toys, and treats — but the airline restrictions were too onerous and I was afraid Cooper would break the bank on spa treatments).

The NY Times reports that small dogs are more welcome than large ones though several operators seemed to change their policy after a call from the reporter.

Have you brought a pet on the road with you? What have your experiences been?

Scout, our Rhodesian Ridgeback mix, is partial to Best Westerns but to be honest, we’ve never experimented with a true dog-friendly high-end hotel. I do find that what I often really need is a doggie babysitter. When we were in out of town for a funeral (yes, with our dog, bad form I know) we had to hire a dog-walker to keep the dog during the service because all family members were attending the funeral.
