The Hug Train…Traveling for a Cause

The Hug Train…Traveling for a Cause

Thank you for returning to Executive Nomad. Wondering why don't we feature reviews of the sites we recommend? Find Out.. If you haven't already, you may want to subscribe to our RSS feed

This is the time of the travel year when most of us are thinking about: a) Santa traveling around the world, pulling off just-in-time delivery once again or b) getting stuck somewhere in intermodal transit system as we make our way over the hills and through the woods to be with family and friends.

Arié Moyal had a different idea and it’s a great one: he’s traveling around the country by train raising money for Mental Health America. He’s dubbed his effort The Hug Train as some medical research has shown that those who hug frequently have better mental health.

I spent a week circumnavigating the U.S. on Amtrak a few years back. I was taking a writing class that was held on board. It was a great experience and the Amtrak accommodations were better than expected — especially west of the Rockies (it helps to be a bit of train enthusiast, I have to say).

We wish Arié all the best and hope that the Nomads in the cities he’ll visit (San Francisco, Chicago, Los Angeles, New Orleans, Atlanta, Washington, DC,  New York, and Boston) will try to meet the train and spread the hugs!
